Research On Psychological Health Status Of Rural Left-behind Children

Rural left-behind children is a particular groop emerged during China’s urbanization.Because separated from their parents for a long time,they are poor in psychological health.Though scholars do so many research on rural left-behind children,they rare study on psychological health of Rural left-behind children only.In order to know the psychological health of rural left behind children and the factors affecting psychological health of left behind children, further to explore countermeasures, to provide some suggestions for the educational front-line workers and social workers, using SCL-90and self-designed left behind children questionnaire, we conduct a survey of psychological health on400students from A middle school of Xin Shao County, Hunan Province,184of them are left behind children,216of them are non-left-behind children. After then,we use SPSS17.0software for data analysis of the T-test, F test and chi-square test.The research sugguest that,firstly,the psychological health of rural left behind children are not as good as non-left-behind children,and scores of7factors and total of left behind children are higher than non-left-behind children,including body,obsessive-compulsive disorder,sensitive interpersonal relation, anxiety,terror, paranoid;Secondly,the psychological health status of rural left behind children are differrent from gender, independent child or not, the type of custody, the parent who live home,the length of left behind life,the frequency family gathering. What’s more, the psychological health of left behind children is also associated with schools, government and society.Based on the above findings, we propose the following strategies:Firstly, the government. Education department had better to establish left-behind children working committee; Increase law enforcement of Public Security, Cultural and Industry and Commerce Department; Develop township and village enterprises near the village.Secondly, the schools. Strengthen the psychological health education of left-behind children; establish the records of psychological health of left-behind children; establish left-behind children supporting group;set parent-school cooperative channels. Thirdly, the family. Parents exchange feelings with children;parents not only pay attention to children’s Material life,but also pay more attention to their Spiritual world;parents should contact with scool and guardians frequently; Guardians should take more care of the left-behind children.Fourthly,social aspects. Community participation;take good care of the children living by themselves.Be different from other researches,we do a research on the psychological health of rural left-behind children only.Becouse of lack of knowledge,this research need to be improved in some aspects.
