The Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes254Cave with its superb artistic level of murals painting was permitted as restricting open super cave Dunhuang Academy254Cave south wall of the die for feeding Tiger "is the best of best. Such professor as Daqian Zhang, Xiwen Dong, Qiqiong Li and Chengshui Xie are did research and study as well as copy the mural painting several times. Due to professional area, the author had many times to inspect within254Cave and proofreading the drawings. This article is a case related to254Cave " Die for feeding the Tiger”, in order to explore the artistic achievements of the Cave and also analysis reason of discoloration of254cave as well as its tentative color reproduction and repair.The article is divided into four chapters, Chapter I briefly describes the history and current situation of254Cave; second chapter analyzes the artistic achievements of the254Cave of ‘die for feeding Tiger’. The third chapter is focusing on discoloration causes and analysis of details of ‘die for feeding tiger’. Chapter IV is about the restore repair research and explores the techniques of drawing for the draw of the moment of artistic creation.Some experts said that the Dunhuang mogao cave is just because of the color deterioration which made its unique, but author thought the mural in the analysis induction’s foundation, it is still has ornamental similarly and its intrinsic value without any color changes. During Northern Wei Dynasty time’s mural has given sort of feeling by “plainly” and “thick crazy”, but after the author’s research, returning to original state and the color has discovered it at first exquisite gorgeous characteristic. This article is not only summaries the artistic achievement of Mogao Caves254holes, but is also analyzes the mural color deterioration origin by the exceptional case the induction. Meanwhile, author also gave the explanation of color return to original state repair summary report. Through the system research mural initial color, analyzes color constitution and the basic rule of this hole and return to original state history scene, then transforms as the artistic creation experience, the result may provide the warning for the mural color repair and the protection and the feasible reference.
