There is no agreement on the best age of the English learning, but in China the learners become younger and younger because of the globalization of economy. Second language acquisition theories suggest that the critical period for language learning is three years old to twelve years old. So there are English courses for the children in the kindergarten, primary school and even there are many English training schools, but the children can not study English very well, either. Because the importance of the affective variables is ignored by some teachers in the English learning and teaching of the children. Affective variables include the motivation and attitude, which makes the teachers to design the teaching plans more reasonably, arrange the teaching activity more interesting and evaluate the teaching process more closely. But in different part of China, the teachers have different attitude on the English teaching of children. So in this thesis, it will illustrate two teaching plans and a questionnaire to prove the affective teaching is more important than the knowledge teaching.Based on the analysis of the two teaching plans and the results of the questionnaire, this thesis gives some enlightenments on the improvement of the affective teaching, which include the enhancement of the motivation, the cultivation of the attitude and the creation of English atmosphere. The aim of this thesis is to give some help to improve the English teaching of the children for the teachers based on the affective variables.
