| As a method of obtaining information about visitors systematically,evaluation has been widely applied in planning, designing and renovatingmuseum exhibitions in western countries. But visitor study in China is stilllimited to providing operating reports of museum or theoretical researchabout visitors. In recent years, interactive multimedia exhibitions are verypopular in museums. How to build an evaluation system tailoredspecifically to the challenges of evaluating multimedia forms andinteractive manners to develop an interactive multimedia exhibit which hasbetter user experience, better teaching power and motivational power hasimportant significance.After reviewing the related studies, the thesis introduces theevaluation system of museum exhibitions from three dimensions: time,purpose and method, and points out the traditional evaluation system’s limitation of evaluating the character of multimedia and interactivity.The thesis establishes a new evaluation system of interactivemultimedia exhibitions from the two aspects of multimedia andinteractivity, applying the theories of interactivity evaluation and usabilityevaluation. In the front-end evaluation, the thesis adds the evaluation ofmultimedia forms and exhibition capability to the new system. In theformative evaluation, the new system increases the evaluation of the logicof contents and the usability of interfaces. In the remedial evaluation, thethesis emphasizes the evaluation of competitive relationship amongexhibitions in the same area. In the summative evaluation, the thesis addsthe evaluation of interactivity and learnability of exhibition.Based on the new evaluation system, a practical front-end evaluationand formative evaluation were conducted to interactive multimedia exhibit“Underwater Hand Signalsâ€. It’s proved very helpful in making designdecisions and enhancing the teaching power and motivational power ofexhibitions. |
