Hybird-the Defamiliarization Of The Conversant

Since the nineteenth century, a certain development has been achieved intranslation theory and practice. However, when it was first put forward by Schàffnerand Adab, the concept “hybrid text” drew much attention from the translation circle.Especially, under the influence of globalization, the world is becoming a multi-culturalworld. Cultural exchanges between different countries make translation more closelyrelated with culture.Mr. Han Zi-man proposed the hybrid theory of literary translation against thisbackground. This also shows that hybrid is universal in the translation of a variety ofliterary works.Shui Hu Zhuan，one of the four great classic novels in China, is the crystallizationof history and culture of our country. It has been translated into different languages andpopular around the world. In order to prove that hybrid of the original and thetranslation exists in the language, culture and literature, the author analyzes therelationship between the literary translation and hybrid translation, is based upon ananalysis of some typical examples from Shapiro’s English version Outlaws of theMarsh，and sees that defamiliarization supports hybrid theory in the process of literarytranslation. Meanwhile, more attention should be paid to the effect and importance ofliterary translation produced by using hybrid theory of literary translation and itsstrategies so as to fully and faithfully convey alien cultures, to aid target text readers toappreciate the exotic features of other cultures and make them familiarize with the traitsof the other cultures.The paper concludes that the full use of hybrid theory of literary translation will behelpful to overcoming narrow national consciousness, and helpful to promoting culturalexchanges. And it will be able to completely transfer nation’s cultural heritage andrecreate the profound thinking of the original works. And to ensure foreign readers areadable translation is a prerequisite, and then we should make use of naturalized translation, so that our versions can better convey the characteristics, and convey morecharacteristics of the Chinese language and culture. The full use of hybrid theory ofliterary translation will also be able to help to enrich the world culture and to promotethe elimination of cultural hegemony.
