The Study On Textbooks About Learning Chinese From Songs

In this paper I studied two sets of textbooks, respectively named “LearnChinese though Music” and “Chinese Songs”. By applying the methods ofliterature research, interview survey, data statistics study and comparativeanalysis, I studied the characteristics and the weakness of the textbooks; andthen summarized the learners’ needs for this kind of teaching materials andmade recommendations on how to improve the composing of this kind oftextbooks.Firstly, from the point of view of evaluation, I studied the marketing needsof these two sets of textbooks, the suitable learners and all aspects relating tothe composing of these textbooks and summed up the core laws in writing suchtextbooks. They are to select a variety of themes and contents and followstep-by-step principle or songs classification in composing. The textbookshould be a combination of Chinese cultural teaching with diverse forms ofexercises. Secondly, by way of interviews and questionnaires, I studied thelearning needs of international students in singing to learn Chinese and basedon the evidence got from such investigations and analysis, I found that there isa gap between the actual needs of students and the designed learning outcomesof these two sets of textbooks.Based on the above analysis, I suggested the follows: A, we should giveentertaining features a full play in both teaching methods and textbook composing and select learners’ favorite songs as the teaching songs. B, Arrangea suitable proportion of the selected songs combined with Chinese cultureteaching and exercises practice in composing a textbook. C. Pay attention toupdate the textbook version with timely collection of new songs.
