Chinese reading class is one of the basic courses for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It’s responsible for training students’Chinese reading ability and even Chinese learning and the application ability. However, in the current, the teachers and students didn’t pay more attention to teach Chinese class and the traditional single teaching mode also limits the teaching effect. Therefore, this thesis tried to bring the multimedia technology into the intermediate Chinese reading teaching for proving if it can make up for the deficiency of the traditional teaching and improve the foreign students’ Chinese reading ability.The thesis is divided into four parts. In the introduction section, this thesis introduced the research background, and settled down the purpose and significance of the research as well as the current research results. the first section is the overall analysis of the multimedia technology used for intermediate Chinese reading teaching, it summarized the characteristics and the present situation of the Chinese reading teaching and studied the feasibility of using multimedia to teach reading; The second section is the multimedia design principles and courseware design of the intermediate Chinese reading teaching, first it pointed to determine the basic design principles (the principles of increasing the teaching of vocabulary and cultural background, the principles of increasing the teaching of discourse and the principles of practical, simplicity and scientific) which the teaching design of the multimedia intermediate Chinese reading should follow to, and then according to the principle we respectively do the teaching design of the reading class stages (the pre-reading stage, the while-reading stage, the post-reading stage); The third section is the summary and the assessment, in this part, firstly we discuss the effect assessment system of the reading class teaching and conclude that we should consider the whole teaching effect from the two aspects of the multimedia courseware and the multimedia teaching effect, secondly we evaluate the using effects according to the questionnaire survey, teaching practice, students’ performance test and finally draw the achievements and shortages of Multimedia assisted Chinese reading teaching.The last section of this thesis is the conclusion and the future prospects.
