Keats is the outstanding representative of the English Romanticism Poet in19th century,"Negative capability" is one of his numerous poetic propositions,it’s very unique, and contains a huge space for interpretation.This article mainly from the background of "Negative Capability", the specific connotation of "Negative Capability",and the relationship between "Negative Capability"and Keats’s other poetics these three aspects to disscuss.The first part from the romantic era background and Keats’s personal life experience to discuss the generation of the "Negative Capability"-the former is the external factors,and the latter is the internal one. The second part explains the connotation of "Negative Capability"from the dimention of the relationship between subject and object in literary creation,it also points out there are three levels in the connotation:the subject and object equality, the object to be free through imagination,and the subject and object become a whole.On the basis of Linguistic Consciousness and the "Poet No Identity",the third part analyzes the importance of "Negative Capability" in keats’s poetics.This three propositions together construct the most important part of Keats’s poetics.
