The Research And Study Of The Funeral Music In Yangzhou Area

Funeral music is one of the important parts of Chinese Ceremonial Music. Its musical form is closely linked to people’s belief, perception and ceremonial behavior. Amount the funeral music in different geographic areas, the featured cultural information is included. In the trace of history process, the unique cultural gene attached to the funeral music is inherited. This thesis elaborates deeply on the specific form and content of funeral music from "Core-Medium-Atmosphere" three levels of musical form through individual case observation and research.Yangzhou is a prosperous city from ancient times with a profound culture. The city locates in the middle of Jiangsu assembling the fine sprits of universe in the south and homely grandness in the north. Through the attendance of funerals in Yangzhou and analysis of the form in the ceremonial music, it is found out that the music style is combined with city’s feature and characteristic, and the music style has more softness of the ballad in south region of Yangtze River.
