A Discussion Of Multicultrue In Statues Tablet Arts In Midweat Area In The Northern Dynasties

The Northern Dynasties of China, the times of national integration, brought out a lot changes to arts. The religious arts, particularly statue arts, were in a boom at that time. Statues tablet was a popular religious statue art in Northern Dynasties, featuring in complicated arts and cultural connotation, and only having existed in China.This thesis firstly researches into the statue arts in Midwest area in the Northern Dynasties based on large amount of images, references with historical articles and research papers, summarises the developing history of the statue arts, and understands reasons why it is formed.Then, it researches in the lights of shapes of tablet niches, constructions, features and decorations, analyses the various arts elements by different categories in chronological order, and summerises the forms and artistic features in statues arts in Mideast area in the orthern Dynasties. Finally, this thesis discusses multicultural elements in the various statues arts elements based on the analysis above, in terms of Xianbei ethnic culture, the Hans culture, the Buddhism culture,’Great Western’and ancient grassland.
