| “Golden Lotus†as one of “Four Books†in Ming dynasty, exerted an enormous influenceto later. A lot of “Golden Lotus†sequels are produced in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It isworth to pay close attention to and study. The academic cirdes always think there are fivesequels of “Golden Lotusâ€. They are “Yu Jiao Leeâ€,“Continuing The Golden Lotusâ€,“FlowerShadows Behind the Curtainâ€,“Kanaya dream†and “The Third Continued the Golden Lotusâ€.“Yu Jiao Lee†appeared earlier, it was published in the Ming dynasty’s WanLi period.Unfortunately, it has been lost. Although,“Continuing The Golden Lotusâ€,“Flower ShadowsBehind the Curtainâ€,“Kanaya dream†are three books, the content and structure of them arebasically the same. Therefore, The academia think this three sequels as a group of continuousbook. I make a throughout and deeply study of “The Third Continued the Golden Lotusâ€and the group of sequels including “Continuing The Golden Lotus†to understand the sequelsof “Golden Lotus†the writing purpose, connotation, narrative art and the shaping of thecharacters. Through the comparative study, explored the existing differences and reasons.This paper consists of five parts.The introduction part gives an overview of the artistic status of the sequels of “GoldenLotusâ€. On the basis of previous research on the illustrations in the sequels of “Golden Lotusâ€,this part also put forward the significance, research objects, and research methodology of thisstudy.The first chapter makes analyses on the novels’ written time and the viewpoint clarifiedby the author. Consequently, it think that the author’s purpose is preach education, remediedregret and pursuit commercial profit.The second chapter makes contrastive analyses on two types of sequels of “GoldenLotusâ€. The ideology of “Continuing The Golden Lotus†is expressed patriotism by writingthe Song dynasty’s story.“The Third Continued the Golden Lotus†exposes that the court iscoming down and women have been persecuted for feudalism system.The third chapter is to talk about the narrative art and produced the character image.Measured by the narrative tradition of the vernacular novels, this chapter makes a concreteanalysis of narrative frame and narration perspective, then concludes that karma establishment,plate structure and transformation perspective in the novels. In contrast to the originalcharacters, discovery continued book characters, one is the extension of the original characterimage, another kind is to change the original character and be added development, enriching the image of the characters.The forth chapter consulted progenitor on material polts, which yields the issues of thesequels of “Golden Lotusâ€.
