From "Tragedy Spirit" To "Self-salvation"

To explore the spirit of religious world is always a theme of human concern,andreligious ethics is a very important question.Religious ethics of Schopenhauer is animportant turning point in western religious ethics,therefore,the importance of this isobvious.But,it is not to be of concern in academics.This dissertation aims to inquiryinto religious ethics of Schopenhauer,respectively,both from the perspective of“tragedy spirit” and “self-salvation”to elaborate.Full text mainly from three aspects:First of all,Schopenhauer critiques of the rational religious ethics and theologicalethics,that reveals Schopenhauer“atheism”of the inner logic.On the one hand,Schopenhauer “atheism” is not the same as materialism atheism,he only denies theexistence of god.On the other hand,Schopenhauer respects Buddhism and earlyChristian,and absorbs “the original sin”and “individual principle” of Christianity,“tat-tvam-asi”of the ancient Indian Brahmanism,and“nirvana”of Buddhism.Consequently,itforms a unique“atheism religious ethics”.Secondly,it is trying to explain the origin and essence of Schopenhauer “tragedyspirit”,that reveals the life is filled with the suffering and pain.If the human wants tobreak away from the pain and suffering,They would eliminate “individual self”.Finally,release from this existence comes from losing one’s individuality inaesthetic experience,in compassion for the world,and in self-denial. “Self-denial”is the most prominent positions in Schopenhauer’s religiousethics.People practice the virtue that not for “god”,not for “rational”,it not embodiesthe dignity and the value of human being.It just to man himself can get rid of theunfortunate and suffering.Only through practicing the “virtue”, human can have a hopesuffering from the life out of it. Practicing the “virtue”eventually become the only waythat human can save himself.So far,the research has made tremendous achievement for Schopenhauer’sphilosophy,ethics,aesthetics,etc.But religious ethics of Schopenhauer is not gettingattention.This dissertation from“tragedy spirit” and “self-salvation” to discussSchopenhauer’s religious ethics for the first time,it opens up the new dimensions interms of theory.
