| This paper summarizes the naming, classification, characteristics,patterns, and the research results of the Verb-copying sentence relatedinversions and other fields, and has hackled the general research ofVerb-copying sentence, in order to grasp the Verb-copying sentenceconvenient research context from the macro.Mr. Wang Li (1944) was the first researcher who treatedVerb-copying sentence as an independent sentence structure. But theVerb-copying sentence did not attract academic attention at that time,until the rise of valence grammar in the eighty’s, the Verb-copyingsentence has gradually become a research hotspot. The author hackles theresearch results of the verb-copying sentence mainly from the followingaspects.1. Determine the scope of the research. Because the unmarkedVerb-copying sentence in a reversible transformation does not have atypical research value, this paper will weigh the verbs following with"De" and "Le" of the Verb-copying sentence as the main study object.2. Summarize the research results the predecessors have made,review what has been made clear, still in question, grasp the researchstatus of Verb-copying sentence, in order to lay the groundwork for thereversible sentences research. (1) Scholars have many opinions upon the naming of the grammarphenomenon of verb repetition in the sentence. But among many naming,"the Verb-copying sentence" was widely recognized by the academiccommunity for its concise, clear, general features. This paper mainlydiscusses the issue of the verb-copying sentences and context sentencefrom sentence level, so it will also use the naming of "Verb-copyingsentence".(2) On the attribution of the Verb-copying sentence, grammarscholars generally believe that the Verb-copying sentence should belongto verb predicate sentence, but academia has not formed a consensus onwhat the Verb-copying sentence should belong to the verb predicatesentence in a small class.(3) The causes of Verb-copying sentence are influenced by variousaspects; this paper summarizes research results from the synchronic anddiachronic aspects.(4) In the related research of Verb-copying sentence, functionalanalysis has been one of the hotspots. This paper integrates the researchresults of the former scholars, introduces the current research situationfrom the three aspects of structure and function, semantic and pragmaticfunctions, rhetorical function.(5) Classification is the foundation of all sciences. In the analysis ofthe Verb-copying sentence, many scholars have taken note of the internal heterogeneity of Verb-copying sentence, and have done a variety ofclassification of Verb-copying sentence. Tang Cuiju (2001) and SunHongling (2005) divided the Verb-copying sentence into causativeVerb-copying sentence and non-causative Verb-copying sentence, andcrystallized the distinctive features of the dynamic characteristics ofsentence members, at the same time, the studies of Verb-copying sentenceof the lower class are of great value.3. The study on the dynamic variation of Verb-copying sentence hasbeen a hotspot for a long period of time, and has made many valuableachievements. This paper focuses on the analysis of constraints of theOVSC sentences transformation of verb-copying sentences.The OVSC sentences transformation of verb-copying sentences(Verb-copying sentence reversible sentences) is regulated by threeaspects:(1) The OVSC sentences transformation of verb-copying sentencesis regulated firstly by the close degree of V and O. The more closely theV and O are combined, the less suitable for the OVSC sentencestransformation of verb-copying sentences is.(2) In the Verb-copying sentence, object cannot refer to nouns ornouns phrasing people, or it is not suitable for OVSC sentencetransformation. If there is a noun or nominal constructions in Object,including Proper Nouns, Principal Vector Phrases, Quantitative Phrases, Genitive Phrases, it is generally suitable for OVSC sentencetransformation.(3)Situation A: Complement C is an independent event, and thesemantic orientation is pointed to the subject, this kind of Verb-copyingsentence can be transformed into OVSC sentence. Situation B:Complement C is not an independent event, but it is noun-semanticorientated, concluding the momentum phrase, money quantity phrase,overall quantitatively phrases, and point to the subject, this kind ofVerb-copying sentence can be transformed into an OVSC sentence.From the pragmatic perspective, what the reversible sentences(OVSC) emphasizes is the object caused more effect on the agent thanthe agent (or narrator) expected, while the Verb-copying sentence(SVOVC) emphasizes how much the agent pays in the face of object. |
