Investigation And Research On Hebei Jingxing Lahua

Jingxing Lahua was created and later became popular in Shijiazhuang,Hebei Province, in China. It belongs to north Yangge. At present, it has becomeone of the most famous folk dance forms in Hebei Province and even in China.As a well-known art form, it is usually perfomed in festivals, temple fairs,celebrations and religious activities. Its characteristics, combining styles ofbeing elegant and profound, vigorous and graceful, lively and doleful, are deeplyrooted in Chinese folk art, so it has been loved by people for a long time.Based on the fieldwork, the thesis aims to investigate the development ofJingxing Lahua from the following aspects, the historical origin, differentschools, social interdependence, organizational forms, performance patterns,artistic characteristics, dramatic tendency, inheritance and development. Thearticle consists of7parts. The introduction provides a brief introduction ofJingxing Lahua, as well as research objectives and methodology. The firstchapter explores the origin and history of Jingxing Lahua based on the collecteddata about the social environment and different forms of Chinese folk dances. Inthe second chapter, the social existence and organizational forms are statedthrough the elaborate analysis of the legend Jingxing Lahua and six differentschools. The third chapter provides an overall description of its musiccharacteristics, performance patterns, props, dress, and cosmetics. The forthchapter analyzes the style of Jingxing Lahua, including the characteristics of the movement of the dance form and the styles of different traditional schools. Whatis more important, the drama factor involved in Jingxing Lahua, which has notbeen studied so far, is explored in the paper. Therefore, it is considered ahighlight of my research. The fifth chapter describes the status quo of JingxingLahua in the1990s and then presents some suggestions for the furtherdevelopment. Finally, the paper concludes that the existence forms andperformance characteristics of Jingxing Lahua are valuable for the folk danceresearch. In the meantime, it also provides possibilities for reform andinnovation of the art form.Jingxing Lahua, as a folk dance form with a long history, has been selectedthe first batch of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Thus, the whole societyshould work jointly towards a shared goal--a better future for Jingxing Lahua.
