Children’s literature works play a very important role in children’s primary education. As the cultural exchanges increase, more and more foreign children’s literature works are introduced into China. However, some Chinese versions are unsatisfied. How to improve the translation quality of children’s literature works further becomes a question which deserves study. In light of reception aesthetics, this report mainly focuses on translation methods analysis of Oscar Wilde’s Fairy Tales, based on the author’s own Chinese version which greatly benefits from the comparison between Ba Jin’s and Lin Huiyin’s versions. This report discusses the translation methods of Oscar Wilde’s Fairy Tales from four different aspects:vocabulary, sentences, figures of speech and culture elements. For vocabulary, obscure vocabulary is avoided, educational vocabulary is chosen, and colloquial vocabulary is commonly used. For sentences, original sentence patterns must be adjusted according to Chinese norms and in order to construct rhythmic sentences, particular sentence patterns should be applied, like parallelism. For figure of speech, translation methods of metaphor, personification and rhythming are discussed respectively. For cultural elements, both foreignization and domesti-cation are necessary. This report also summarizes three suggestions which may be useful for children’s literature translation workers.
