| Folklore is an important part of Chinese traditional culture, and is the symbol of acountry and national culture. It can reflect the spirit of a country and nation kernel mostly, soit’s crucial to study the importance of folklore to the development and prosperity of a countryand national culture. Before the film and television, the transmission of the folklore is quitelimited, which is only through some paper-based media and interpersonal communication.Along with the production of film and television, there appears one more transmission channel.As a kind of image method, numerous folklore matters are presented to the screen to show tothe audience. Then, through film and television, people can not only see the familiar folk scene,but also enjoy the exotic culture of different nationalities and regions. From then on, film andtelevision become a new kind of inheritance of folk culture.Throughout the whole Chinese film history, we found that in every era, every directorwould integrate folk elements into film. The folk elements exist as a form of folklore matters,and this phenomenon is particularly prominent in the fifth generation director of the film.Therefore, the intervention of folklore matters has become one of the symbols of the fifthgeneration director. They repeatedly appear in the film, sometimes as the main object of thefilm performance, sometimes as the background of the film, and sometimes create colorfulimages. No matter in what form, the image plays a very important role in the expression of filmtheme. In this paper, comprehensively applying the filmology, folklore, narratology and otherrelevant theoretical knowledge, and combining with individual cases to study the using offolklore matters in fifth generation director film, the author will take the fifth generation filmwhich appeared in the80s as the research object, and try to reveal the living condition anddevelopment trend of the folklore in the film creating.This paper mainly includes the followingaspects:First of all, basing the reading of a large number of document literature, and making asummary of the folklore matters applied in the fifth generation director film, the author will define the related concepts in this paper, and sort out the theoretical basis and research methodsof the thesis writing, so to provid theoretical support for the following article writing.Secondly, concluding the developing course of the fifth generation director film, this papermakes a brief introduction of the appearing folk elements, and has an analysis of the folkpermeating reason in film creation. Furthermore, it makes a discussion of the similarities anddifferences of the folklore applying in the fifth and fourth generation director film.Thirdly, in the field of folklore, the folklore matters are mainly divided into material,social, spiritual and language folklore. Quoting the classification of folklore matters in folklorefield into film, and combining with the film instances, this paper will analyze the concretemanifestation form of the folklore matters in film.Fourthly, the participating way of folklore matters in the film narrative basically has thefollowing three types:"plot narrative","scene" narrative, and plot free narrative. Combiningwith film instances, this paper mainly introduces the folklore matters in the narrative types.Fifthly, combining with the film instances, this paper mainly analyzes the irreplaceablerole of folklore matters in the fifth generation director film. It mainly includes depictingcharacter, shaping the character image, showing the full-bodied regional folk customs, creatinga visual spectacle and artistic conception, as well as expressing the theme, etc.Lastly, this paper mainly analyzes the mutual effect of the folklore matters and the fifthgeneration director film, and summarizes the difficulties of folklore matters participating in thefilm creation. Therefore, it puts forward the corresponding development strategies for theexisting problems, in order to do something for the study of the fifth generation director film. |
