Cognitional Bias Toward Face Information In Women With Facial Negative Physical Self

For half a century, there has been a fruitful research, most of which are risk factors in the area of physical self body image disturbance and eating disorders. Negative physical self (NPS), or body image disturbance, is defined as the negative view of the body, a negative emotional experience and behavior regulation. In China, negative physical self-related relative fatness, thin face, shortness of breath, and the overall appearance is concerned about the size contains specific physical appearance concerns. Based negative physical self-concept, face negative physical self (FNPS) is defined as the negative cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspects of the self as a low-facial attractiveness.Participants who have negative physical self in a large number of studies have found that this gang body shape, and food-related information attention bias. In this study, we are expected to resolve the above problems.Accordingly, in this study, we use three types of experimental paradigm (the dot probe paradigm, masked version of the dot probe task and study-recognition task), four experimental materials (neural pictures, highly attractive female faces, middle attractive female faces and low attractive faces), two different kinds of research tools (behavior and ERP experiments) to explore the internal mechanism of attention and memory bias in the women with facial negative physical self. This study provides important theoretical and practical value. The results found that female with FNPS showed quick avoidance to highly attractive faces and difficulty disengages to low attractive faces.Study3&4are ERP experiments. ERPs were used to explore temporal changes of recognition toward attractive female faces based on a study-recognition experiment paradigm. During the judgment task,240pictures were presented to the participants. Participants were asked to evaluate80high attractive faces pictures,80middle attractive faces and80low attractive faces. In the recognition task, they were asked to identify previously viewed faces from the initial judgment task among attractive, unattractive, and average face pictures. According to the participants’ responses, the electroencephalography (EEG) of the responses to "high attractive face pictures "," middle attractive face pictures "and" low attractive face pictures" was separately overlapped. The averaged epoch for an ERP was1000ms including an epoch of200ms for the pre-answer baseline. ERP waveforms showed that:before200mini seconds, low attractive faces elicited more enhanced ERP effects than high and middle attractive faces in FNPS individuals on the P1and N170components.
