Negative physical self (NPS) is a multi-level, multi-dimensional system, is about the negative perception, negative emotional experience and behavior regulation of the individual body, involving the individual’s cognitive, emotional and behavioral regulations. In China, negative physical self is about the dissatisfied of body appearance, height, fat and thin factor, each factor has three separate components of the "emotional""behavior" and "projection" of. Basic the negative physical self-defined of Chen Hong, height negative physical self is defined as individuals who have negative cognition of his height, negative emotional experience and behavior regulation.At present, a large number of study which use the stimulus-response experimental model, has found that the individual self-schema will influence significant cognitive processing of sexual bias, this negative or distorted body self-schema instance information related to formula automated processing, so that in the different stages of information processing, such as attention, memory, or recognition phase exhibit selective processing of a bias. However, almost all these studies were concentrate in negative physical self with eating disorders or body image impaired clinical trial, or has a fat negative physical-self, non-clinical subjects, the study of the height negative are few.In China, Chen Hong discovers that both male and female teenagers are dissatisfaction about the height, and the extent of their dissatisfaction about height is over the appearance and body shape. It’s different with Western culture simply emphasized the looks young people. So, it is very necessary to conduct a study about height of adolescent. Although the male and female have a great degree dissatisfied with height, but the different is:men are more emphasis on sports, health, at the strength characteristics of height; while women are more concerned about the attractive characteristics of well-proportioned, skinny, slim and elegant. Then, due to the men and women of different height feature concerns, it’s very necessary to examine negative physical-self test of cognitive processing bias.This study is based on self-schema theory and the results of previous studies, the experimental vocabulary tend to explore the cognitive processing of male and female college students who have height negative physical self. Will the teenagers with height negative physical-self have the cognitive processing of body-related information? What kind of situation it is? If the experimental vocabulary into a negative height schema vocabulary, the schema inconsistent actively height vocabulary as well as independent Schema neutral words, whether cognitive bias will exist in two different manifestations? This research has important theoretical and practical significance.First, this study for the first time to explore the cognitive processing characteristics of height negative physical-self teen-ages triggered, it cannot be ignored to enrich and improve the self-schema theory; Secondly, the study from the height dimension of cognitive bias and maintain the short negative body self-mechanism is of great significance, and to provide new ideas and methods for the clinical psychological counseling and treatment of body image disorder or social phobia plays a decisive role in promoting adolescent health psychology and healthy personality development significance.The study is divided into two experiments using visual attention shifts-recognition task, to investigate the existence of cognitive processing bias of height negative physical-self male. If there is, we can see the manifestations are different, or not. The reaction of the Height relevant vocabulary and recognition accuracy rate will tell whether the cognitive bias exists. Experiment2using the same experimental paradigm, the same will be collected to the experimental vocabulary divided into negative Height vocabulary, explore the female college students who have the height negative physical self-schema subjects with normal female college students whether there are differences between the cognitive processing of the experimental vocabulary; If there are, cognitive processing bias exists. The dependent variable indicators are the same with Experiment1.The study found:height negative physical self-male exist cognitive bias, they need more time to react the negative heights vocabulary and have higher rate of correct recognition of negative height vocabulary; but the study did not reach the same conclusion for females, he specific situation needs further study.
