When an oil field development is in the late, water production increase significantly, and the oilfield floods severely, high flooding region and low flooding region are unevenly distributed; the remaining oil is difficult to develop. It’s necessary to make some measures to find out the distribution relationship of the underground oil and water. And then search the potential layer and region to develop to improve oil recovery. Saturation cased hole pulse neutron logging appeared in this context.Begin with the theoretical basis of the saturation pulse neutron logging, this article introduces C/O spectral logging theory, neutron lifetime logging theory and gamma-ray detection principle. After extensive research of domestic and foreign literature, we make comparative analysis of the well-known saturation pulse neutron logging tool from the instrument structure, logging timing, measurement indicator etc, and introduce the spectroscopy peak search method of C/O spectrum logging, and how to make spectrum drift correction. Then describe the generation principle and the meaning of the common curve represents the formation of the saturation pulse logging curves. And use adaptive filtering to filter the errors caused by statistical fluctuation. In order to improve the identification ability of the curve to thin-layer, we make measures to improve the resolution processing on the curve. After the preprocessing of the logging curve, we make comprehensive explanation of the logging curves, the focus is how to calculate shale content, porosity, permeability, saturation, etc. This article makes X oilfield as an example, it introduces the application of saturation pulse neutron logging in the evaluation of flooding layer explanation. At the same time, the article proposed a flooding intensity classification method of the saturation pulse neutron logging tool. The results show that saturation pulse neutron logging tool has a good indication of the remaining oil, and the interpretation accuracy can meet with the requirements of the field application accuracy.
