As an important auxiliary equipment of rolling production line, the plateleveler determines the accuracy of plate flatness. The current mainstreamstraightening equipment is the third generation plate hydraulic leveler, which hashigher requirements for the accuracy and the automation degree of the controlsystem. While the existing settings of the process parameters depend on thehuman experience, it can’t meet the demands of the third generation leveler. Inthis paper, the process set software is designed for plate leveler, and it canautomatically calculate and auto-set the process parameters, has excellentself-learning ability, and is good to meet the requirements of the third generationleveler.Through a comprehensive analysis of the system, the system modeling toolsPower Designer is used to establish the physical model of the database, theknowledge base needed in the system is determined, and the current populardatabase Oracle10g was applied to establish the database required in the system.Based on the modular design concept, the system functions will be divided intoseveral modules, mainly including the sheet information management module,the communication system module, the system maintenance module and modelcalculation module. And the self-learning function is achieved in the modelcalculation module. Finally, the programming software is used to developappropriate interface, which can realize the system design functions. Throughtesting, the software is stable, reliable, and it has good portability and can realizethe originally designed aim.At the end of the article, the structures of the leveler communication systemand the implementation of the monitoring system are described. Using OPCcommunication technology, the appropriate communication interfaces isdeveloped to achieve the communication among the leveler, mill and basicautomation. After online test, the communication system is stable, reliable, andhas been achieved the data sharing. The monitoring system is developed basedon Siemens monitoring software WINCC6.0to achieve the system remote monitoring.The design proposed in the paper is applied in a number of iron and steelenterprises. Since it has been put into operation, the system performance isstable and reliable. And it has achieved automation straightening of leveler,which can greatly improve the production efficiency and storage rate of plate,and has been recognized by the factory. It has created substantial benefits for thefactory and its application prospects are very optimistic.
