With the rapid development of office automation and network technology, color laser printer present a new explosive growth, along with the increasing demands of color toners market. This paper mainly used the emulsion polymerization to prepare wax/styrene acrylic resin composite latex particles. The latex particles were characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM), laser particle size analyzer, thermal heavy-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The effects of emulsification technology, wax, emulsifier, initiator were studied. The concrete content is as follows:In the preparing of paraffin/styrene acrylic resin by mini-emulsion polymerization, according to the particularity of mini-emulsion polymerization, the appropriate homogenization intensity and time were chosen. The influence of emulsifier, the ratio of compound emulsifier, paraffin and copolymerization monomer on the composite emulsion particle size, morphology and thermal properties were studied. We found: with the increase of the content of SDS, composite emulsion particle size decreases first and then increases, the best emulsifier dosage is5%of the mass of monomer; Non-ionic emulsifier TX-100benefits the form of core-shell structure; The addition amount of paraffin in2.0g, the composite particles of core-shell structure is the most clear and emulsion stability is the best; The introduction of comonomer(butyl-acrylate) was studied. Butyl-acrylate just changed thermal properties of the latex particle, it has a little effect of the particle size.In the preparing of PE wax/styrene acrylic resin by in-situ emulsion polymerization, the dosage of emulsifier TX-100, the ratio of St/BA, PE wax, initiator species and different polymerization process on the influence of the composite emulsion particle size, morphology and thermal properties were studied. The research showed that: the best usage of TX-100was1.0g; The ratio of St/BA has a little effect of the particle size, but has a big influence of its thermal performance; With the increase of the content of the polyethylene wax, the particle size was increasing and its stability variation; Using different type of initiator, the average particle size was almost the same, but the size distribution was more narrow when using oil soluble initiator then water soluble initiator; Through the testing of different polymerization temperature and different monomer joining mode of the emulsion particle size and stability, and ultimately determine the polymerization temperature of80℃.
