Objects:In order to understand the immnue response of H1N1-infected patients, we study the change of monocyte subsets of H1N1-infected patients with different syndromes to provide valuable immune parameters for treament of H1N1-infected patients with Chinese Medicine.Subjects and Methods:According to the syndrome of Chinese Traditional Medicine, the H1N1-infected patients were divided into three groups:the1st goup is toxic heat retention in the lung; the2nd goup is loss of consciousness and collapse; and the3goup is deficiency of both qi and yin. The patients were comfirmed by H1N1RT-PCR. Blood samples were collected from16healthy volunteers; from30cases of the1st goup; from40cases of the2nd goup; and from42cases of the3th goup. The percentage and absolute counts of subtypes of monocytes, lymphocytes, the expression of HLA-DR on monocytes subsets were analyzed by flow cytometer. Results:Compared with healthy volunteers,1) the patients of the2nd goup were accompanied by significant increased number of monocytes. the patients of the3th goup were accompanied by significant increased number of granulocyte and decreased number of lymphocytes.2) the patients of the2nd goup were accompanied by significant decreased number of T cells (CD3+T cells, CD4+T cells, CD8+T cells) and NK cells, a significant increase of B cells;3) the patients of the2nd goup were accompanied by significant increased number of newly monocytes subset Mo0and significant decreased number of monocytes subset Mo2, the patients of the1st goup were accompanied by significant increased number of Mo2monocytes;4) the expression of HLA-DR on Mo2monocyte subsets of the patients of the1st goup were decreased, and the expression of HLA-DR on all monocyte subsets of the patients of the2nd goup were significantly decreased compared with the patients of the1st goup. Conclusion:There are significant difference among monocyte subsets of the patients with different syndromes. The patients of the2nd group are characterized as significant increase of newly Mo0monocytes subset and decrease of Mo2and Mo3subsets.
