[Objective]:To know whether the patients have bacterial infection,Procalcition (PCT) was tested in the orthopaedic implants perioperative period. Antibiotics were used according to the value of PCT. Discussed the PCT can be used as an orthopaedic implants perioperation period of antibiotic use in the reference index.[Methods]:Randomized and controlled trial methods were adopted. The100cases who met the criteria were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group,50people in each group. The experimental group:The venous blood sampling were used to checked PCT、WBC、CRP and ESR,when they were preoperation and1,2,3,5days after surgery.Antibiotics were discontinued when PCT<0.05ng/ml. The control group:The venous blood sampling were used to checked inflammatory markers (white blood count. C-reactie protein, etc). We recorded the results of infection prevention and contrasted antibiotics consumption time and hospitalization time. The statistical software SPSS17.0were adopted. The mean used x±s to show. When P<0.05, it is thought they are different with a statistical significance.[Results]:Statistical analysis for gender, age, disease entities and surgical site of the two group showed P were0.054,0.906,0.144,0.127respectively. They were no statistical difference(P>0.05). To statistical analyse the different factors, included gender, age, disease entities and surgical site, whether influence the antibiotics consumption time and hospitalization time between the two groups. The results showed that P were0.34,0.913,0.633,0.708,0.109consequently,there were not statistical difference(P>0.05).It means that they not influence the antibiotics consumption time and hospitalization time. Antibiotics consumption time in the orthopaedic implants perioperative period and hospitalization time were1.20±602days and17.46±6.37days; The control group were2.22±1.58days and20.76±9.338days. Statistical analysis for the the antibiotics consumption time and hospitalization time of the two groups showed P was P=0.037. They were statistical difference(P<0.05). Patients were followed up and the longest follow-up time was1year; the shortest was5months; the averaged follow-up time was7.3±1.23months.There is one example in patients with local infection wound.[Conclusion]:PCT can be used as an orthopaedic implants perioperation period of antibiotic use in the reference index.
