Purpose:Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) was increasingly used as a systemictherapy for triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC). The pathological completeresponse(pCR) rates of NAC in TNBC were higher than other types of breast cancerwith fluctuate data. The meta-analysis was conducted to contrast the pCR ratesof NAC in TNBC, non-TNBC and HER2-positive tumors. The prognostic function ofsome clinicopathological parameters were also examined in the pCR rates of NACfor TNBC.Material and method:Studies were selected from the PubMed database and CochraneCollaboration Library. pCR rates were collected in groups of TNBC, non-TNBC andHER2-positive tumors. The relavant parameters to pCR rates in TNBC group werealso recorded. Results:The analysis included22studies with7168patients, the aggregatepercentage of pCR was29.5%in TNBC group, which is17.7%higher compared tonon-TNBC. The summary relative risk(RR) for pCR rate of TNBC group with thatof non-TNBC group was2.55(95%CI:2.31–2.83). No obvious statisticalheterogeneity and publication bias was detected. The association of lymph nodesmetastasis, Ki-67expression, p53expression and CK5/6expression with pCR rateof TNBC was also investigated in the analysis, and the odds ratios(OR) were0.50(95%CI:0.26–0.95),9.87(95%CI:3.53–27.62),1.17(95%CI:0.45–3.07)and0.53(95%CI:0.09–3.09) respectively. Conclusion: This meta-analysis demonstrates that NAC shows a higherchemosensitivity for TNBC than other types of breast cancer. Ki-67expressionand lymph nodes metastasis were predictors of pCR rate for TNBC in NAC, whilep53and CK5/6expression could not be confirmed for the prognostic function.
