The church of England is more closely linked with the Holy See during the period of Anglo-Saxon,at the time of heptarchy,all the church of the Kingdom is under the control of the Archbishop of Canterbury,and there is a unified church in the UK,which makes the Church of England is different from western European in traditions and characteristics.Before the Norman Conquest, the Church of England became the political power for the king to achieve unity and lean on.After Nonnan Conquest, the feudal system in England is gradually established,the king integrates the Church of England into the feudal system through "the Domesday Book",bishops, and even the Archbishop of Canterbury have been incorporated into the feudal system,King even masters the power of the reference of the bishop and sets restrictions on British priest going to Rome for pilgrimage.After the church reforming movement,the contradictions of the Church of England and the kingships is growing.Becket served as Archbishop of Canterbury,implementing the policy of maintaining papal rule faithful,and intensify the contradictions with Henry Ⅱ,so the contradictions evolve into open conflict.The cause of the battle of Henry Ⅱ and becket is the judicial reform of Henry Ⅱ.Therefore the impact of this struggle is not limited to seize the jurisdiction of the Church,but to seize the rights of reference of bishop.In this process,Henry Ⅱ promulgates a large number of written law,which has a great impact on the formation of the British common law.
