Early as the 1793,"Dream of Red Mansions" spreaded to Japan.it setted off the upsurge of research and translation of "Dream of Red Mansions", and made a tremendous impact. Because idioms and Chinese culture, literature and history are closely linked, so the translation of the idiom could be very important and complex. However,there is little study of the Chinese-Japanese translation of idioms, and translation in Japanese of "Dream of Red Mansions" in the idiom is even more rare. So I selected a translation of two influential in Japan, and collect the idiom translation examples, analyse the translation of each idiom, in order to explore the translation of idioms. In this paper, by compared with the original "Dream of Red Mansions"from the literal translation and three angles slightly translated to the idiom of the Japanese-language techniques and their characteristics were analyzed. The conclusions are as follows.(1) The literal translation of idioms can be divided into the following aspects. The expression of Japanese idioms can be used directly. However with the changing times idioms has also been changed, so sometimes the idioms can not be translated correctly. When the meaning of the idioms is the surface meaning, the literal translation is available, but at the same time the translation may be much longer. Idiom translation session, sometimes in the form of the classical direct translation. On the average,Japanese would be more difficult to understand, so almost add a comment to explain after translation. Containing figurative idiom, should be #12(2) Chinese idioms containing historical figures, historical stories and other cultural elements, usually using the way of free translation. But will result in the loss of original cultural elements to a certain extent. In addition, the translation performance status abstract idiom, but also often choose free translation.(3) Idiom to pay attention to the beauty of the structure and phonology, the dual stack word contains many idioms. Japanese there is no corresponding form of expression, translation and more will be omitted. Although the translation is simple, but will lose the structure of the original phrase and phonological.
