There live in my hometown, Hulun Buir Grassland, a group of people, people drink noisily, eat large pieces of meat, get up and go to bed with the sun. You never know where blue sky and white cloud end, and where grassland begins. Men ride their fine horses, galloping over the vast grassland, while women milk cows in the rising sun. heir life is simple and happy. Once you step in this vast and mysterious land, all your troubles will vanish. It is as beautiful as a lady in her prime, as broad as a man with indomitable spirit, as intelligent as an old man with wisdom. It opens another window in your heart. The boundless grassland makes you feel small. Life is short. You may put aside everything and be doubtful of your pursuits in the city. In the pasture land, you feel the harmony between man and nature. The artists of grassland painting school, nurtured by grassland culture, depict the land and the minority people in their own way. Their paintings show simplicity, goodness, broad-mindedness, solidarity, initiative and optimism as well as people’s awe and admiration to nature. By depicting the natural landscape, the artists deeply touch the minorities’state of being as well as the harmony between man and nature. From outsiders’perspective, the pasture culture provides more inspiration. The paintings change with the time. Artists have their differing appreciation and means of expression. Yet all they try to demonstrate are grassland culture and spirit.
