In the fifty-sixth year of Emperor Qianlong Periods, Qing Dynasty (1791), Cuiwen Bookstore published the first movable type printing edition of A Dream of Red Mansions which attracted people’s attention. Zhang Ru-yi, who lived in the early years of Jiaqing Period, Qing Dynasty, made more detailed commentaries with the characters, language, structure, contradictory mistaken and so on. However, in A Dream of Red Mansions Criticism, the study of Zhang Ru-yi’s comments is less completed. The paper is studying Zhang Ru-yi’s comments, for systematic classification and objective recitation for the Evaluators, Evaluation form, Evaluation function, Evaluation of vision and Literary inheritance after the comprehensive review. The full text is divided into three chapters.Chapter1, Zhang Ru-yi and his A Dream of Red Mansions criticized edition. In this chapter we will investigate "Zhang Ru-yi" and "Ju-pu"’s identity first, and put up with the conclusion that the well known "Zhang Ru-zhi" should be "Zhang Ru-yi" as a matter of fact. Ru-yi’s style name is "De-cheng", and his surname is "Lu-cun Qu-sou". It is possible that this person’s ancestral home is Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. In this criticized edition, the man who signed as "Ju-pu" is more likely to be "Huchong Ju-pu" of Xiushui (Jiaxing today), Zhejiang Province. Secondly, we will also discuss the complete criticized form from punctuation, preface to headnote, sidenote and so on. At the same time, based on the specific text of the novel, taking criticisms as clue, we will demonstrate the function of literati’s self enjoyment and introduction which showed by Zhang Ru-yi’s criticisms in this chapter.Chapter2, the visual field of Zhang Ru-yi’s criticisms. This chapter we will make a complete comment from two points of view-multidimensional character view and whole horizontal structural perspective of the novel on Zhang Ru-yi. We suppose that setting character into concrete scene makes Zhang Ru-yi’s criticisms reflect two aspects of assessment characteristics which are simplification and stereoscopic view. Aiming at the novel’s structure, Zhang Ru-yi always uses the words "Fuhou","Yingqian"which prompt the story to criticize the first80chapters of A Dream of Red Mansions. Meanwhile, Zhang studied structure depending on120chapters for whole story. Hence, Zhang had the original understanding for the structure of this novel.Chapter3, the inheritance for the early time literature of Zhang Ru-yi’s criticisms. This chapter we will review the relationship between Zhang Ru-yi’s criticisms and Mengzi, Water Margin, the Golden lotus, and other works. And discusses the contemplation of Zhang Ru-yi’s criticisms on idea, content, techniques, plots, characters of these books as we mentioned above. At last, summarizes the rationality of Zhang Ru-yi’s criticisms on A Dream of Red Mansions’s aesthetic value which judged under comparative perspective.
