In the context of the popularity in Chinese language all around the world, In recent years Chinese language teaching in Thailand develop vigorously, also the number of learning Chinese language students is growing with each passing day. However, the teaching quality in Chinese language class is not satisfactory. At present, secondary school Chinese language class in Thailand focus on traditional teaching methods, teachers is center of learning, the interaction between teachers and students is very low, giving the result to Chinese language class teaching effectiveness.This paper pass through classroom observation and questionnaire survey, in understanding the problems that exist in the secondary school Chinese language teaching in Thailand, combined with Thai students Chinese-learning characteristics, To propose the task-based teaching used in Chinese language teaching in secondary schools in Thailand, in order to improve the quality of Chinese teaching in Thailand. Author conducted task-based teaching experiments to explore the application of task-based teaching in Chinese-language-teaching secondary school in Thailand. By choosing one lesson "Food Stuff from "Experiencing Chinese" textbook as example for designing task-based teaching program, then to apply into classroom teaching, together with analyze and investigate result and major shortcomings.The survey shows the following main issues currently exist in the Chinese-language-teaching secondary school in Thailand: First, students’learning motivation needs to be strengthened; Second, emphasis on traditional teaching methods; Third, there are problems in some of the teaching materials; Forth, classroom hours still inadequate instruction programs need to be improved. The task-based teaching in the field of Chinese language teaching is more recognized by a state-of-the-art teaching methods can effectively overcome the existing problems of Chinese-language-teaching secondary school in Thailand, also elevate effectiveness of Chinese language teaching. In the applicability of task-based teaching regarding to Chinese-language-teaching secondary school in Thailand mainly illustrate as follow:First, task-based teaching can enhance classroom interaction and improve students’participation; Second, task-based teaching help to enliven classroom atmosphere and enhance students’interest in Chinese language courses. Third, task-based teaching can effectively develop students’Chinese communicative competence. Forth, task-based teaching can be well adapted to learning characteristics of secondary school students in Thailand.Although more than half of Thai secondary school Chinese teachers understand task-based teaching methods, but a few has applied task-based teaching to the Chinese classroom, Some teachers illustrated the fewer hours of Chinese class, task-based program consume longer time; Some teachers indicate the heavy burden on the teachers’personal tasks, there is no time to design task-based or classroom activities. In order to research the applicability of task-based teaching in Chinese-language-teaching secondary school in Thailand, author regarding to grade one Chinese-language class in a Thai secondary school as model, to conduct experimental study of task-based teaching in secondary school Chinese-language-class in Thailand, in order to verify the effect of task-based teaching, pointing out areas for improvement.Author’s task-based teaching experiments indicate that the task-based teaching not only receive the results in terms of language attainment, can also be the result of non-verbal knowledge. The task-based teaching has advantages in students’learning attitude improvement, elevate student interaction, develop students’thinking, arouse students’interest in learning. At part of learning in language knowledge, task-based has a certain gradient, can make the students’ learning move forward step by step, and gradually learned the Chinese. And hope that this research can promote the applicability of task-based teaching in Thai secondary school Chinese-language class, also elevate secondary school Chinese-language-class teaching to achieve the purpose.
