When it comes to thepattern of a nation’s “Cultural Diplomacy”， it means the summary of characters andnormalities in this nation’s “Cultural Diplomacy” activities，namely the operatingmode of habitual and regular exercises in“Cultural Diplomacy”. The pattern of“Cultural Diplomacy” differs in various countries，for it is closely related to itsfatherland’s political systm.China’s “Cultural Diplomacy” pattern embodies thefundamental feature of leadership of CPC and people as the masters of the country，aswell as ruling the country by law，which serves the great practice of building “SocialistCore Value” and greatly contributes to gaining favorable external environment toChina.Confucius Institute is a gem in China’s present pattern of“Cultural Diplomacy”，which stations overseas and become bridges of friendship between Chinese and foreigncultures，in addition to facilitating Chinese language and culture learning for localpeople. Therefore，Confucius Institute makes a great contribution to internationalizationof Chinese language and familiarization of Chinese Culture for aliens. From standpointof international politics，this article deems China can harvest some strategic benefitsform Confucius Institute，such as safeguarding national interests，reflecting andimplementing China’s national cultural strategy， strengthening the cohesion of Chinesepeople of all groups， assisting China’s overseas publicity， favoring China’s“harmonious world” blueprint，helping China’s efforts in national image building，and facilitating commercial intercourse between China and foreign counties，etc.In brief，Confucius Institute has great significance in the causes of learning Chinese as asecond language，reinforcing the communication between different civilizations，boosting exchanges and cooperations in humanities area，advancing Sino-foreignrelations，plus building a “harmonious world” with lasting peace and commonprosperity of every country.This article began with presenting the concept and the functions of “CulturalDiplomacy”，secondly it analyzed the classification and features of China’s “CulturalDiplomacy” pattern，thirdly it introduced phylogeny of internationalization of TCFLand Confucius Institute，fourthly it compared Confucius Institute with China’s other“Cultural Diplomacy” practices in similarities and differences，fifthly it discussed thefunctions and enlightenments of Confucius Institute for China’s “Cultural Diplomacy”pattern and Confucius Institute’s shortcomings with emphasis，lastly it gave somesuggestions for Confucius Institute and China’s “Cultural Diplomacy” by comparingConfucius Institute with other nations’ language promoting agencies and patterns，in anattempt to wish Confucius Institute shall have a brighter future.
