| Chinese history spanning more than five millennia gives Chinese profoundcultural connotation. In TCFL(Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language), the obstaclethat many students confront in the course of understanding and using Chinese is causedby not only merely their own lack of language knowledge system, but also thediscrepancy between cultural factors implied in Chinese words and their own firstlanguage culture. Therefore, whether overseas students can master culturally loadedwords or not is the crux of their success in learning Chinese well, integrating themselvesinto Chinese atmosphere, and preparing for the networking. For this reason, it isnecessary for us to study the culturally loaded words. With overseas students whosemother tongue is English as object of study, under the background of culturaldiscrepancy between Chinese and English, this paper based on contrastive analysis ofChinese-English language further searches non-equivalence of culturally loaded wordsbetween Chinese and English. It aims at provide reference for teaching Chinese as aforeign language through contrastive study of Chinese-English culturally loaded words. |
