Listening is an important means to acquisition language knowledge. The premise of students’ acquisition is to understand the teacher’s message by listening. So there are certain requirements of students’hearing level. In this sense, listening is a prerequisite for people to learn and use other language skills. We can say that teaching of listening is an integral part in teaching of Chinese as a second language. However, in the traditional teaching of listening, teachers always prefer making students understand the listening material, so the teaching process is somewhat boring. The traditional teaching of listening is more or less ineffective. Under this circumstance, this thesis selects two teaching methods, that is audio-lingual method and communicative approach. Firstly, this thesis introduces the concept, theory, characteristics respectively. Secondly, the author focuses to illustrate the application of those teaching methods in the classroom teaching through teaching experiment. Last but not least, the author sums up some problems and solutions in the teaching of listening in the classroom, and makes exploration in improving listening classroom teaching in teaching of Chinese as a second language.
