Translating Tang Poetry Into English Language Cultural Misreading Phenomenon In The Study

China is considered as the kingdom of poetry. The Book of Songs, Songs of Chu, Yuefu Poems, Tang Poetry, Song Lyrics, Yuan Drama and. so on, bear the deep artistic culture, as culture is the value system formed by the language symbols, and poetry carried by language is the most primitive and essential art. Therefore, no matter what Chinese translators or Western translators are all fond of Chinese traditional culture----poetry. The language of Chinese ancient classical poetry is most concise, and the poets always weigh words to reach the state of "Not a word being written, Elegance being totally tasted". During the Tang Poetry’s translation into English, the translators should convey the original poetry’s language characteristics, images, history, and cultural inners and so on. Therefore, the misreading is the normal phenomenon.We would analyze the misreading phenomenon during the Tang Poetry’s translations into English, based on two different kinds of languages’essential attributes and morphological manifestations, and on histories and cultural factors that it carried and so on. The misreading phenomenon during Tang Poetry’s translations into English likes a coin has two sides. One is negative effect, such as it would become the obstacles during cultural transmission. What’s more, it would be play the positive role, such as it helps us to identify the unique cultural characteristics, similarities and differences between original language and target language. We not only can learn about foreign culture, but also can self-reflect and comprehend afresh host culture. It has great significance for the reconstruction of Chinese culture and the development of world culture. In this paper, we try to make the systematic study and put forward our own opinions and views on the base of misreading theories, fruits and examples in the home and abroad.
