The research on critical thinking has risen in the early21st century inChina. But the study of College Students Critical Thinking is a relativelyweak field. This paper chiefly studies the status quo of the Shanghaiarea college students critical thinking, and from these three aspects ofthe grades, genders, majors, to explore whether there are differences.Also it has studied the relationship between the Students CriticalThinking and Big Five personality. Finally, according to the results,somerelated strategies proposals of the Culture of Students Critical Thinkingare put forward.The California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI),California Critical Thinking Skills Test(CCTST) and The NEO personalityInventory (NEO.PI) are used for this research.The participants are439college students.SPSS17.0,LISREL8.7and Structural Equation are usedfor data process.With analysis of variance, confirmatory factor analysisand Correlation analysis and etc., the study arrives at followingconclusions:1.The critical thinking tendencies and skills of Shanghai collegestudents are in the middle and lower levels in the overall level of theinterview;2.There is no significant difference between genders on Thecritical thinking tendencies and skills of Shanghai college students;3.There are significant differences in the scores of the threedifferent grades students in the critical thinking tendency in Shanghai;4.The critical thinking tendency questionnaire score of sciencemajors in Shanghai area is significantly higher than the college studentsof liberal arts majors;5.There is no significant difference among the different gradesof college students in Shanghai area in the total score on the critical thinking skills, but the third-year students in the inference scale scorewas significantly higher than the score of the first and second gradestudents;6. The critical thinking skills score of science majors in Shanghaiarea is significantly higher than the college students of liberal artsmajors;7.The CCTDI and NEO.PI has significantly correlation in somefactors;The Big Five personality through the critical thinking tendency toaffect the critical thinking skills, critical thinking tendencies can be seenas mediating variable.
