Around first Century BC, the Xinjiang region from the primitive worship stage to cross into the religious stage, with Buddhism spread to the Yu Tian region watershed, Buddhism subsequently become before the tenth Century in Xinjiang, the dominant religion, Buddhism almost become a state religion. The year first Century to year tenth Century is equivalent in Han and Tang Dynasties, Xinjiang is the spread of Buddhism, the main period of development and prosperity, and therefore the choice of this period of time as Buddhism in Xinjiang.In this paper, Xinjiang as an independent unit of space, from the view of history and geography to explore Buddhism in Han and Tang Dynasties transmission and distribution situation. First Century BC, Buddhism spread to Xinjiang from India through kashmir. The Wei and Jin Dynasties, Buddhism in Xinjiang into a prosperous period in Tarim Basin Sheng, north-south traffic to Yu Tian and the two formed by two Buddhist center. Sui and Tang Dynasties, Buddhism in Xinjiang entered a period of prosperity, Kucha and Gaochang for this period of cultural representation.Xinjiang serves as western the main traffic arteries, in Buddhism spread to become a cult to the East, west of a distribution center. During the southern and Northern Dynasties Buddhism of Xinjiang development degree higher than the mainland, to the East is much greater than the number of monks number westbound, Chinese Buddhist Center was concentrated in the Xinjiang area. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Buddhism emerged from the mainland to Xinjiang big return trend. Xinjiang east to the monks gradually little monks to Western India, Central Plains and law are increased, the period of Buddhism to China, to the spread of Buddhism, the decline in the status of Xinjiang.Xinjiang Buddhist temple in the Han Dynasty mainly lies in Khotan and Qiuci in two countries. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties temple is still mainly lies in Khotan and Kucha, Yanqi and North Court also has distribution. Overall, the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the temple totals less than in the Wei and Jin dynasties. The site mainly distributed in Kucha, Khotan, Gaochang and take. From Buddhist Xinjiang overall development, the prosperous period in the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties period, the area was Yu Tian and kucha. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Gaochang become another translation concentrated area.Buddhism in Xinjiang during the Han and Tang Dynasties transmission and distribution causes, by geographical, economic, political, and cultural characteristics of traffic conditions and inherent factors.
