Henri Bergson is a representative of the life aesthetics school. His main view of philosophy and aesthetics about the origin of the earth and how to understand the world are stretched by the theory of "prolong". Exiting in time," prolong" is pure functional and cannot be estimated and calculated. Therefore, under the influence of " prolong", Henri Bergson put forward his opinions on " freedom","instinct" and " intuition". Only by all of the three factors mentioned above played their roles can the whole world last for years and years. That is the reason why his thoughts can be called life philosophy and life aesthetics.Chinese traditional philosophy and aesthetics always attached importance on life consciousness. Under the influence of "harmony between man and nature", Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism explained their own views of life from different aspects.Life aesthetics has a metaphysic meaning on the world’s originality in spite of its origin place, time and background. Moreover, on the understanding of life, the life philosophy and life aesthetics do not refer to the actual life no matter it is in China or in western countries. The understanding is all based on the human consciousness or the ’prolong" of the objects’inner condition, but not on the biology. Thus, on the issue of how to understand the world, the life aesthetics both in China and western countries advocate a way of inner intuitional experience. Henri Bergson preferred "intuition" while it is "sudden enlightenment" in Chinese classical aesthetics. The paper divided into five parts. In the first part, the paper gives an introduction of life aesthetics in China and western countries. It generalizes the characteristics of life aesthetics schools in late19centuries and traditional Chinese aesthetics in Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. A brief comparison and contrast is made between that of the western and of the Chinese. The second part, the paper gives a detail explanation to Henri Bergson’s life aesthetics. In this part, the definition, characteristics and its content of his theory " Prolong" is given. In the third part, the paper makes a comparison between Henri Bergson’s theory and The Books of Changes by the way of ontology. They used metaphysic objects as the world’s origin and the research bases. The fourth part analyzes the same parts between Henri Bergson’s life aesthetics and Chuang Tzu’s life aesthetics from aspects of ontology and epistemology. There is some kind of similarity between Henri Bergson’s " Prolong" and Chuang Tzu’s Tao. Meanwhile, they both propose the idea of freedom on the attitude to the world. In the fifth part, the paper analyzes the similarity between Henri Bergson’s life aesthetics and Zen. It is not only similar in the field of ontology, but also in the way of understanding the world such as Henri Bergson’s "intuition" and the "sudden enlightenment" in Chinese classical aesthetics. The paper uses two research methods, ontology and methodology.
