The Image Of China In The Cross-cultural Context Construction

In the time of China’s peaceful rise, how to further improve thenational soft power and enhance the international influence ofChinese culture, how to set the image of powerful culture in thecross-cultural communication, how to compare and make use ofsuccessful experience of developed country in the cross-culturaldissemination, to serve the need of Chinese culture’s development ofglobalization and construct the image of China to match our powerstatus is particularly urgent.The image of China, as a new research area, is drawing attentionfrom comparative literature, journalism and communication,international relations and other disciplines. From exploring theimage of China in the western world eyes-the "other" image togradually exploring how to "find the Orient", output Chinese culture,how to construct image of China, this is the basic category of China’sdomestic "image research". This article attempts to study theconstruction of the image of the state from the cultural policyevolution perspective. Cultural policy is essentially the manifestationand reflection of national cultural will and culture benefit. Thegovernment, as the main body of the country’s construction, enhancesthe international influence of Chinese culture through its visible andinvisible cultural policy, in the aim to fight the developed countries’cultural hegemony, and construct comprehensive and real nationalimage in the context of globalization.The content of this paper is divided into five parts, the first part isthe basic theory research, combing and analysing research presentsituation of the domestic and foreign scholars on Chinese image, and proposing the research method and path: The current scholarsstudying national image are mostly in literature and journalism field,and their researches focus on the literary works and strategy studieswith the lack of theory construction and elaboration.After multipledimensions and multilevel analysis of national image, stepping out ofpostcolonial culture criticism perspective, we choose to show theresponse of the ruling party and the government on Chinese culturalconsciousness and civilization rise from the cultural policy’sevolution.In the second part with the title of" current cultural policy statusof developed country in the context of globalization ",I horizontallycompare and analyse effective cultural policies of the EuropeanUnion, Canada and Australia against the United States’ strongculture and cultural hegemony,and interprete the inner contactbetween cultural policy and region image construction from thesecountries and regions’ policy evolution.The third part has vertically combed Chinese cultural policy afterthe founding, and elaborated our current cultural policy deepinfluencing the construction of national image, and further space forenhancement and current shortcomings.The fourth part analyses the significance of the development ofcultural industry to the construction of Chinese cultural image with"dynamic Yunnan" as an example, and points out that Only fine worksof art and literature refined the Chinese traditional culture andinnovated with the development of the era, combined the national artsand cultural inherent romantic charm with modern aesthetic sense,can make more effective external communication of national image. Our conclusion settled in the positive influence of culturalpolicy on the national image construction, and we point out that onlywith confirmation of" cultural industry" legitimacy and recognition ofcultural great economic value in contemporary time, can we developthe culture industry well, and turn our country from" big culturalresource country" to " powerful cultural industries country" andestablish China national image better.
