| The thesis, in light of Marxist historicism, through literature reviews and field interviews, aims to sort out the social and cultural background of regional printmaking and its historical development in Gansu Province in the early time after national Liberation (from1949, the founding of People’s Republic of China to1966, before the outbreak of Cultural Revolution), Meanwhile, the thesis accumulates abundant historical documents and provides an introduction to the major printmakers and their works. Equally important, it also describes the start of Gansu printmaking after1949, its dynamic development, its periodical peak from the end of1950s to early1960s, and its position in national paintings. |
