The key factor of learning geography is learning map, which is service of life needs. Research shows that teachers teaching concept map has inconvenient influence to students’life map ability. Therefore, master of geographical full-time education researches freshman map ability has special reality significance to solve training students map reading ability in geography teaching.This paper using participatory observation and questionnaire interview method, conduct a survey to Beijing some ordinary high school112students map reading ability from following four aspects:the fond of map and influence factors, reading maps and its influencing factors, using maps, and mental map. Carrying on inquisition analysis to a university six2010full-time education masters map teaching idea problem focusing on following four ways:map developing ability paying attention to the development of the map apply in teaching, students map ability development, the life apply in daily life.The results found that senior high school students map ability present situations are:(1)deficiency map literacy;(2) lacking of using map opportunity;(3) interest comes from test;(4) the influence of map ability main source from teachers. Geography full-time teaching principle are:(1) training the ability of the map idea;(2) the idea of inside and outside the class helps students get an opportunity to map application;(3) the rich teaching content to improve the students’ interest;(4) paying attention to cultivating map into daily life.The influence of master to map ability of freshman are:(1) the master has the idea to pay attention to train students map ability which in favor of improving their own map attainment;(2) the master has the idea to enhance the opportunity to use map which in favor of increasing students chance of use map;(3) the master has the idea to improve students’interest with abundant educate content of courses which in favor of the benefit students map interest wide training;(4) the master has the idea to pay attention to map daily life developed which in favor of using map at ordinary times. Accordingly, the proposal in full-time education master’s geography teaching practice should be paid attention in following aspects:(1) the cultivation of the students’ map ability;(2) creat the opportunity of using map and supply the map environment inside and outside the class;(3) abundant teaching method and train students interest of using map;(4) guide the students to map ability into daily life.
