The status of college students’ employment in the period of Republic of China, not only was a complex and required further research to the problem, but also a matter that had practical significance. After the foundation of the Republic of China, the government promulgated some laws of higher education which promoted the development of the higher education. The number of the students increased with the development of the institutions of higher learning. From employment scale, the public university graduates’ employment, on the whole, was better than the private university graduates. Different areas and different professions college graduates in employment were different. Look at from the employment direction, for the government made some policy such as paid attention to normal education and paid a higher salary to the teacher, many students engaged in education working with those policies’ influence. In addition, students also were bound up in government institution. A number of newly departments and professions were urged with the press of the economic development. It took more opportunities for students.In this period, the graduates’ employment had its own characteristics. First, it was the imbalance between supply and demand. Including subjects demand imbalance and regional imbalance. Second, it was the employment expectation on the high side, competition consciousness. Third, sometimes the unemployment problem was obvious.The social situation had great influence to the graduates. On one hand, the unstable political increased the difficulty of graduates to apply for a job, but also to impact the occupational stability of the employed graduates. On the other hand, during the reign of the Beiyang government, the managers changed frequently, it was no uniform policy. The employment channel was one of the important factors that affected the university students’employment. The way of graduates’ application included the government arrangement, the social relationship and the efforts of their own. In addition, the number of the college students, the subjects’ unbalanced develop and the quality of the graduates, were also the main factors that influence the university students’ employment.
