A Study On The Current Situation Of Homosexual College Students And The Correspondent Mental Guidance

The view that homosexuality, which has always been stirring heated debates, is not a symptom of crime, psychological disease, and immoral behavior has been gradually accepted widely. However, the above does not mean that discrimination to homosexuals is gone, which unavoidably draws social attention to their well-being.In China, college homosexuals are not willing to reveal this personal secret, bearing more assessment, pressure and anxiety, compared to those average college students when faced with college learning and life and social competitions. Scarce attention from the college administration or academic study to those people is likely to cause potential problems. Therefore, it is high time that college administration took measures to care for homosexual group, guiding them to form a proper judgment of themselves, self-esteem, and outlook of future.Taking a university in Leshan as a sample, the author reports current situation of college homosexuals emotional states and its causes, from the aspects of study, life and mentality; in the mean time, the author also attempts to put forward solutions to the guidance of their education.Chapter one is about the general introduction to homosexuals as to definition, history and the prevailing view on them in China, followed by a literature review of the background and significance of this study, that is, researches of homosexuals at home and abroad.Chapter two discusses current situation of college homosexuals, based on data from questionnaires and interviews about their study, life, mentality as emotional states; then the author analyzes the causes of college homosexuals from the angles of family, social surroundings and education.Chapter three, the most important chapter, mainly focuses on the education of college homosexuals. It begins with lack for attention and its consequences and research urgency, ends with solutions to guidance on mental health as promoting acceptance and understanding of them on campus, emphasizing sexual education of college homosexuals, caring for college homosexuals life and psychological well-being, developing educational courses and lectures and constructing a scientific system of administration on homosexual students mental health from three levels, that is, political instructors, lecturers and student leaders.
