Rhythmic Gymnastics is a manual or lightweight handheld sport which devices to the accompaniment of music with natural and rhythmic movements. In the2008Olympic Games, Chinese rhythmic gymnastics has made the group all-around runner-up, but compared to the artistic gymnastics world powerful nation to still have a large gap. The creation of outstanding athletic performance must rely on athletic ability to the overall level of comprehensive and balanced development. Physical quality is low will restrict competitive ability to raise the overall level of play, while other important body part quality is weak that will affect the entire physical quality enhancement. Ankle in the rhythmic gymnastics has an important role. Strengthening the training, especially strength training, will not only help to improve the quality of the completion of an action, but also can reduce physical quality factors of ankle injury. Young athletes in the development stage of physical fitness. The strength quality as all the qualities of basic quality should be the focus of development, emphasizing on the strength development of ankle and small joints will be helped to improve the overall physical fitness.Through the investigation of the2010National Junior Championship of Rhythmic Gymnastics athletes, this study draw the following conclusions with the young rhythmic gymnasts ankle strength training by the using of literature review questionnaire survey, expert interviews, mathematical statistics and other research methods.1. The ankle in artistic gymnastics movement plays an important role, which is closely related with the jump height and air posture flxing. And it also affords strength sustaining and stability supports in the twist balance and lift heel. as well as the balance action. Audit also needs the active participation and collaboration of the ankle joint with the ankle in the toe step, soft step, flat run the pace of action and others.2. The rhythmic Gymnasts are more serious in ankle injuries. The major damage is the ligament injury, and mostly in the form of ankle sprain or contusion, which had been occurred mainly in ankle plantar flexion inversion motion. The causes of injury is physical quality deviation, especially ankle strength inadequacy is its first, in addition to rhythmic gymnastics and movement characteristics of the project needs.3. The requirements of the rhythmic gymnastics on the strength of the ankle are mainly for the outbreak strength, strength endurance and extensor and flexor muscles of balanced development. The ankle strength training methods and means should be selected according to the features and needs of the project, as well as the players’ individual differences. In the process of implementation, we should not only follow the principles of strength training, but also pay attention to the characteristic of the project, as well as physical characteristics of juveniles, which can promote better in the development of ankle strength.
