Ideological and Political course for middle school is important part of middle school ideological and political education, it is also the primary channel for juvenile ideological and politic education. The founding of People’s Republic of China is an important beginning. The constant changing of ideological and politic course since the founding of the nation, reflects the Party and the government which had paid attention to the middle school ideological and political course for its important effect of juvenile ideological and politic education. The exploration and research in the construction of middle school ideological and political course since the foundation of the nation, could provide experience for present construction of the course, it will also extend the important function of middle school ideological and political course.The paper is composed of six sections. From the first section to the third section, it is a brief summary of middle school ideological and political course development history. It was classified as the history as follows:the beginning of middle school politics course and initial development, complicated development period, reform and development period. The paper classified and summarized the middle school politics course construction since the founding of nation to the last time course reconstruction in the year of2004, and its background, course construction objectives, course settings, course content, teaching methods. And the paper also made summaries on the characteristics of each separate period on foresaid items. The fourth section made exploration on the background, achievements and future challenges of the present ideological and political course. The fifth section summarized the experiences and lessons learned from negative experiences of ideological and political course since the foundation of nation. The sixth section, based on past summarized experience, with the new challenges encountered during present ideological and political course construction, suggestion were made for the future middle school ideological and political course development and innovation.
