The aim of this research is to test the applicability of physical exercise in college students, by examining the difference of latent means of social cognitive variables in different stages, the path coefficient differences between social cognitive variables, and the difference of the explained variances in different stages,to reveal the stage characteristics of the HAPA model which is from the western context in longitudinal study. The pre-test mainly tested the reliablity and validity of the college students’extracurricular sports exercise questionnaire; The formal test used the reviced college students physical exercise questionnaire to measrue the stage of college students physical exercise, heslth risk perception, outcome expectations, self-efficacy, exercise intention and exercise plans and exercise levels and other variables which is divided into three measurement points in time(the first week of semester;the fifth week of semester;the thirteenth and fourteenth of semester),in the end,580subjects finished the whole test. After the system measurement, examining the HAPA model fitness in the three stage groups with a variety of goodness of structural equation model fit index (X2/df, TLI, CFI, RMSEA),using confirmatory factor analysis to examine the constancy of the factor structure of the model measurement tools in various stages, using multi-group structural equation modeling to test the uniqueness of the causal structure specified in the HAPA model in various stages.Results:(1) Preliminary test showed that the poor fit of the HAPA model. So the overall sample were randomly divided into two parts to revice, the determination sample and the validity sample. The results show that the HAPA model revised(model1) is good fit to the overall sample(RMSEA=0.035) and its three stage group samples(RMSEAnon-intender=0.048; RMSEAintender=0.050;RMSEAactor=0.034).(2) Set up model2(equal factor loading across the subsamples) and Model3(model2constraints plus equal factor covariances) based on the model1(unconstrained model).Found that model2, model3and model1has no significant difference, the constancy of the factor structure of the model measurement tools in various stages of the revised model has constant of factor loading and factor covariances.(3)Using the multi-group structural equation to analysis based on the model3.The results show that the latent means of most social cognitive variables in various stages had a significant difference, part of the path coefficient between the social cognitive variables had a phase difference. Conclusion:The Hypothesis of the HAPA model was partially supported, which can provide an empirical bases for the stage-based matching interventions and promote college students to participate in and maintain exercise.
