Biology is a natural science based on experiments. As is said in theexperiment textbook of the ordinary high school curriculum standard, itis most important to experience in understanding the scientific process.Therefore, the experiment is required to be carried out in the biologyteaching, but there exist many contradictions: Firstly, the contradictionbetween requirements of the new curriculum standard and limited classhours. Secondly, the contradiction between changed testing ways onexperiments in the college entrance examination and the traditionalteaching method of “teacher’s explaining and students’ reciting”. Third,from the students needs and the actual teaching situation ofcontradiction. Fouth, the school laboratory to optimize the resourceconfiguration needs and the actual teaching situation of contradiction.Resolve these contradictions, are in need of opening laboratory,therefore, it is necessary to study the open laboratory.The open laboratory experimental teaching, is defined relative tothe traditional closed teaching space-time idea manacle character,students do not rigidly adhere to the classroom experiment time andspace constraints, the use of spare time under the guidance ofteachers in laboratory experiments. The subject of the study of openlaboratory experiments include the form to do experiment teachingclassroom failed experiments or no consolidation experiment,demonstration experiment, the arrangement of teaching materialteachers but no organization grouping experiments or various interest inexperimental. The most important is the time of the opening, can makespecific experimental schedule, but this arrangement is not rigid, havecertain elasticity. For example, according to the progress of teaching,the teacher to do a good job of an experimental preparations, cangive students a week or so, let the students in extracurricular time to complete the experimental task using opening laboratory. In particularthe use of double cease day open to the students, the autonomy of thestudents will be greater.The conclusion of the study: In ordinary form of classroom teaching,on the basis of the traditional conduct of experiments, open laboratorywill help students to improve their performance on biology obviously. Atthe same time, open laboratory will provide more opportunities ofcommunication between teachers and students so as to maketeachers know more about students’ mentalities and learning situations.All of these will benefit classroom teaching. Of course, the openlaboratory will be of great help to cultivate students interest in study. Asa result, based on the traditional teaching, the open laboratory, as akind of fresh blood, will improve the growth of the teacher as well ascomprehensive qualities of students remarkably. The open laboratoryshould be established not only in high schools but also in middle schools.Moreover, the open laboratory is also needed by other subjects such asphysics and chemistry.
