Since2009, the education bureau of Chang Ning District, Shanghai has made outa scheme called ‘Happy Day’ witch implemented in the wednesday every week.During the ‘Happy Day’, the teacher designs and implements a type of homeworkcalled ‘long-term homework’ instead of the regulations homework for the sake ofalleviating the burden of learning and passion in learning. The ‘long-term homework’includes two systems, the first system which aims at the subject knowledge focuses onthe knowledge internalization, this system calls ‘long-term subject’. The other onethat aims at the development of students’ ability focuses on what students areinterested in and how to use the knowledge to solve practical life problems calls‘long-term project’. This article analyses the function and significance of thelong-term homework through summarizing the connotation and characteristics.The long-term homework which focuses on the relationship between the real lifeand learning of students aims at performing some task that teachers have designed. Inorder to have the further analyses and comprehension about the long-term homework,this article hackles the connotation, classification and theoretical foundation of twosystems of the long-term homework that called long-term subject and long-termproject.As far as the implementation of the long-term homework is concerned, thisarticle surveys the reasonable educational ideas and advanced theoretical thoughts ofthe long-term homework through comparing with the project-based learning inAmerican. By this, the author has investigated the advantage and significance of thelong-term homework systematically.
