Masculinity Perspective:an Empirical Research Of Marriage Equality

The study of gender equality at home or abroad has never been interrupted. Weather theoretical guidance or practical significance on promoting gender equality, such researches have made considerable achievements. Specific to the family studies, many have confirmed that with the continuous improvement of women status, marital equality has made a big advance. However, researchers concluded mostly by women’s experiences or husbands and wives contrast studies. There were almost no men’s studies to stress men’s impact on gender equality.On the method, this study combined quantitative statistical analysis and qualitative data analysis to demonstrate the impact of masculinity on the equality between husband and wife. By describing how masculinity construct and perform in the family, The article analyze how masculinity norms shape a male, and by which ways affect marital equality. On the basis of such analysis, by reflecting the essential relationship between masculinity and gender equality, the author pose that involvement of male perspective on the family and marriage relationship study, which perspective help us to further explore the contribution of male in family studies, such as the study of family power, domestic division, the underlying causes of domestic violence, and fatherhood (paternity); to promote gender equality.
