Separation is the family’s internal operational mechanism in China, a basic form of family reproduction; he has to re-allocate the original family property so that this reproduction can be achieved. Separation is also a farmer’s own need for real-life resulting from a life of practice embedded in people’s daily life practice, as time flies, this has become a conventional phenomenon of family life in countryside, and has become one of the family separation phenomenon of civilian society of long history. However, as time passed and social progressed, both the separation time and form of modem society have taken great changes compared to traditional society. In the family separation, members in attendance change, the ceremony of separation is different, the time is also constantly ahead, besides changes in these areas, the new phenomenon of the only son family come into separation has appeared. In this paper, we begin with these phenomena in-depth analysis of his extensional changes, further analysis of deep-seated reasons behind them.The primary content of this paper is Chapter III and IV. Chapter III mainly describes the changes in separation of households:first, the members involved in separation became fewer and fewer, in traditional times, separation of families in general needed to invite both patrilineal and maternal relatives to arrive at the scene, some families also invited neighbors and prestigious persons in village to participate in the separation process, while in modern society, only the family members would be invited to participate; second, the time between sons’marriage and the separation of family is getting short, the traditional times of separation were generally required to wait until all the brothers got married, but as time goes on, the time of separation gradually shortened, and some families even to talk about the separation matter before a wife get in;third, the ceremony of separation became more and more simple, in traditional society, picking the days for dividing, writing the separation of instruments and eating "San Huofan" were all consisted in the program, however, in modern society, all the above are abridged;fourth, the new phenomenon that the only child separated from their parents came out. Generally speaking, this could not happen in traditional society, but for life in modern society, the only child families also take part in separation, in a certain period of time, the divided families would get together in return. Whether separation or gathering of the family is farmer’s rational choice, local villagers do not take moral evaluation on this kind of family separation.Chapter IV is an in-depth analysis on the causes of these above-mentioned changes. There are four aspects of the main reasons:first, changes in the mode of social production in countryside; second, rational of family intergenerational relations; third, the weakening influence of the family property; fourth, the weakening of social binding and enhancing individual consciousness of both the sons and fathers.
