The Chinese delegation, several times in the topthree in the World University Games medal rankings, has made outstandingachievements in the campaign. But at the present stage, our nation college athletes’holistic competitive ability compared with United States has the obvious gap. Most ofour college athletes do not have the ability to represent the university to attend theWorld University Games into the finals and win a medal with their athleticperformances. Status of development doesn’t follow the original intention of creatinghigh level sports team in university and cultivating the college athletes. Theseparation between education and sport system in China in addition with our sportstalents mainly from national team or provinces of professional team compared withcollege athletes cultivated by the combination of sports and education from Westernsports power demonstrates our college athletes’ low culture quality. The collegeathletes from Western world sports power mostly come from university, and they arethe comprehensive development of the compound talents with superior athleticperformance and high culture quality. Cultivated by the mode of the combination ofsports and education, during the period of college, they represent college and nation toparticipate the competition as college athletes. After graduation, they use theknowledge they have learned to be engaged in sport-related jobs or professionalworks in school. Our nation tries to create high level sports team in university, whichis keeping up with the world the development of competitive sports and the strategyof the cultivation of college competitive sports talents with multi-channel, multi-form.Develop the college athletics sports in order to take part in the World UniversityGames and undertake the competition task. As the increasing overall level of collegeathletics sports, the college athletes have to equip the ability to participate in theOlympic Games, Asian Games and be in the finals or win the medal. Aftertwenty-seven years of development, the college athletics sports has made someachievements and part of universities autonomously cultivate the college athletes whoare able to be in the finals in the World University Games and win a medal, practicehas proved that the construction of high level sports team in university is feasible.However, due to lack of experience in the process of development, facing the conflictsand difficulties with many external uncontrollable factors, the original intentiondoesn’t realize. Compared with high level sports team in Western university, it still has certain disparity. Summarize the development present status of high level sportsteam in university and analyze our nation’s development present status of athleticssports, the management system of high level sports team, the existing managementproblem of the development process by using the method of questionnaireinvestigation and case analysis.
