One of the key factors about whether ideological and political education in colleges and universities could achieve its goals lies in the effective performance of its functions. While in such a secular society with globalize economy, democratized politics, diversified culture, advanced science and technology, complex family atmosphere as well as the increasing virtual communication, the performance of its functions is definitely full of difficulties in its path. Admittedly, compared to colleges and universities inland, ideological and political education in Tibetan universities has some particular functions, as a result of the unique location, history and culture, complex political environment as well as the great distinctions between university students in Tibet and inland in knowledge structure, way of thinking, sense of competition etc. This thesis tries to analyze the generality and particularity of ideological and political education in colleges and universities in Tibetan and inland, in order to find out the factors that will affect the performance of its functions in Tibetan universities and seek appropriate ways to achieve the goals of ideological and political education in Tibetan universities.This paper argues that ideological and political education in colleges and universities in Tibet has functions in ideology political indoctrination, moral enlightenment and psychological adjustment. And the factors that could affect the achievement of its goals lie in the contradiction between the pan-politicization and depoliticized tendency among universities students, distinctions between the goals of specialized education and ideological and political education, as well as the current situations of faculty members in Tibetan colleges and universities.Based on the analysis, this thesis explores some ways to try to improve the ideological and political education in colleges and universities in Tibet, involving establishing modern philosophy of education, improving the teacher strength and teaching methods, constructing a new curriculum system, and combining ideological and political education with mental health education, etc.
